Hawai‘i, one of the states with the fastest growing elderly population in the country, is a pioneer on kupuna care. With this 24-hour course, Kapi‘olani Community College is among the institutions leading in the training of Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), with a valid license, wishing to operate an Adult Residential Care Home (ARCH). Graduates from the ARCH program at Kapi‘olani Community College receive a Certificate of Competence, which is one of the requirements to become licensed as an ARCH primary caregiver.
