About This Program

A Certificate in cybersecurity provides the skills applicable to cybersecurity practitioners in every industry from finance to the government to big or small businesses.  Cybersecurity is an emerging field that promotes continuous learning as threat agents create new cyberattacks.

 

The Cybersecurity in Healthcare Program will provide students with the fundamentals of information technology and cybersecurity that are applicable to cybersecurity practitioners in all industries.  In addition, students will receive instruction in healthcare, an industry in the midst of a digital transformation that has unique federal regulatory privacy and security requirements. Certificate holders will be competent to pursue a career in cybersecurity in any industry, with particular emphasis on healthcare.

Program Format

  • Fully online 4-month program.

  • Three modules in the program: Information Technology Fundamentals, Healthcare Fundamentals and Cybersecurity Fundamentals.

  • This program is not self-paced as modules will become available to you on specific dates.

  • Each module has various lessons which includes content to read, videos, self-assessment quizzes and assignments.

  • Both the Information Technology Fundamentals and Cybersecurity Fundamentals modules, have a culminating project at the end of the module. The culminating project will be an assignment that would require you to demonstrate all of the knowledge gained in the module.

  • Monthly Saturday live online sessions will be required to attend where you will have discussions with your classmates and instructors and an opportunity to hear from experts in the field of cybersecurity and information technology.

What Can I Do After The Program?

  • Graduates will have the knowledge to take a number of national industry exams including the CompTIA Security + Certification Exam, GIAC Information Security Fundamentals and the ISACA Cybersecurity Fundamentals Certificate Exam.

  • This content of this program is based on the National Initiative Cybersecurity Education Workforce Framework and graduates would qualify for jobs under the “Operate and Maintain” section. Graduates who successfully pass the certification exam could lead to a position as a Systems Security Analyst but may also qualify as a Networks Operations Specialist, Technical Support Specialist and System Administrator.
