Tutor Training Certification, Level 1

The purpose of Level 1 training is to give new tutors the opportunity to understand “best practices” of tutoring services as they begin to develop their own tutoring strategies and styles.

Eligibility Requirements for Free Training:

Participants must be:

• Residents of the City and County of Honolulu, and
• Have their job situation affected by COVID-19 impacts (e.g. furloughed, lost hours, or unemployed)

Steps to Sign Up

1. Search for a class you are intersted in taking.
2. Pick a class that you are interested in by selecting “I’m interested in this class” – then complete the Application Form to determine your eligibility for a free class.
3. Your application will be reviewed. Once approved, a UH campus will contact you within 24-48 hours regarding your class enrollment.
4. For courses with prerequisites, you will be advised on the requirements and need to take action to be enrolled in the class.
5. A UH campus will confirm that you are enrolled in a class and provide information about starting the class.
